Nomination celebration!

As soon as I dig out from everything that's come in while I was away at the wonderful Central California Writers Conference (pics to follow tomorrow), I'll post up my "Happy Release Day" blog for the fabulous books out today.  In the meantime, I wanted to congratulate my authors on a few new award nominations!  So, congratulations to:

Carol Berg for finaling in the Colorado Book Awards with The Spirit Lens is a finalist for the Colorado Book Awards in the Genre/Popular Fiction category!

Patti O'Shea for IN THE DARKEST NIGHT finaling in the Best Long Paranormal category of the Readers' Crown Awards!

Congratulating more award nominees

Congratulations are in order for two of my authors making the final ballots on a few awards!

To Patti O'Shea for IN THE DARKEST NIGHT finaling for Best Paranormal in the National Readers Choice Awards!

To N.K. Jemisin, whose fantasy THE HUNDRED THOUSAND KINGDOMS is up for
The Morningstar Award for Best Fantasy Newcomer/debut!  In addition, the wonderful artwork by Cliff Nielsen is a finalist for the Ravenheart.

Kudos and congrats!

Taking time out to uncork some virtual champagne for all the Knight Agency authors who are currently rocking out!  For one, I just learned this morning that Rachel Caine's GHOST TOWN (the 9th Morganville Vampires novel) is currently #1 on Waterstones.com.  Yesterday we discovered it was also #5 B&N YA Hardcover Bestseller list, #26 BGI overall hardcover bestseller list and #5 BGI YA hardcover bestseller list here in the states.

Kudos too to Patti O'Shea, whose EDGE OF DAWN has just won the 2010 Aspen Gold Award for Best Paranormal.

And last, but not least, congratulations to all the fabulous TKA authors who've been nominated for Romantic Times Awards!

Video contest for ReVamped!

Have y’all seen the application tapes from
Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-Long Blog for the Evil League of Evil (samples here)?  Well, Gina’s on the side of sweetness and light…or at least, light…and taking applications of her own.  That’s right, Gina wants, no NEEDS, minions.  So, here’s the deal:

-create a video “application” to tell Gina why you’d make an amazing minion.  Style, theatricality and humor all encouraged

-send it to me at ginasminions @gmail.com (though without the space between ginasminions and @), along with a filled in, signed version of the statement below.

It’s as simple as that.  Four finalists will be chosen and posted on my blog(s) by August 15th.  The winner will be chosen on August 31st, the day before ReVamped officially hits shelves!  The grand prize winner receives a Flip Video Camera, and the three runners-up $25 Barnes & Noble gift cards.

Spread the word, send video and, most of all, have FUN!

Statement:

I hereby warrant that I am the creator of the attached video, that all rights are mine to grant and that I have obtained any necessary permissions.  I authorize Lucienne Diver to use my video non-exclusively on her website, blogs, YouTube and other media sites.

If you’re under eighteen, a parent or guardian must sign as well.

Conventions and awards

I have three authors at C2E2 this weekend (the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo).  If you're in the area, I hope you'll stop by and say "hello" for me to Marjorie M. Liu, David Mack and Keith R.A. DeCandido and get some books/comics signed for yourself.

Also, congratulations to my finalists for OKRWA's National Readers' Choice Awards.  You go, gals!

THE EDGE OF DAWN by Patti O'Shea for Best Paranormal

"Naughty and Nice" by Crystal Jordan in the UNDER THE COVERS anthology for Best Novella

So much news

First, my awesome friend Eric Archibald has come up with a snazzy new cartoon me for the blog!  (For those of you who miss Gina, my previous icon, she's now over at her own blog: http://ginasgems.livejournal.com, along with a pic of my brand new cover for ReVamped and an excerpt.)

Huge congrats to Rob Thurman for hitting #35 on the New York Times extended list with her latest Cal Leandros novel, ROADKILL.

And triple kudos to Beth Cornelison, who's a Gayle Wilson Award of Excellence finalist for TALL DARK DEFENDER =and= THE CHRISTMAS STRANGER in series romantic suspense and HEALING LUKE in single title!

A few things before I run off and read

The Children's Book Council, in association with Teenreads.com, wants you to vote on your five favorite books of 2009 for the Children's Choice Book Awards.  Details are here.  Voting ends February 1, 2010.  With so many awesome books out in 2009, I have no idea how you'll pick just five.

One of my incredible authors (Marjorie M. Liu) is hosting one of my other fabulous writers (Sarah A. Hoyt) over on
her blog today.  Hope you'll stop by and say hello to one and all.

In other news, the Nebula Awards are coming to Cocoa Beach, Florida Thursday, May 13th through Sunday, the 16th to coincide with the scheduled launch of the Huttle Atlantis on Friday, May 14th.  Looks like it'll be a pretty amazing weekend.
Check it out.
